Event Rules 

All Entry Fees must be received by e-transfer to standardrodeosociety@gmail.com to complete your registration. Until your fees are received you are not entered.  Some events are fist come first serve and entries are limited.   

All Participants are required to have a signed waiver prior to event, which will be available at Check-in on the event date.  

Check-in will Open at 12-1pm, failure to sign your waiver prior to 1pm will forfeit you entry fee and you will be scratched from the event.

Youth Ranch Rodeo

3 Members per team required

Event 1. Calf Scramble 

Contestants require Helmets & Flack Jackets (provided)

  • Each Team will be assigned a Ribbon Color

  • 3 calves in the arena and one will have your team color

  • Teams Start event behind the white line when the horn sounds each team attempts to obtain the ribbon from their calf  

  • the timer will stop when the entire team crosses the white line with their ribbon color, any portion of the ribbon qualifies. 

Teams have a max of 3min to complete the event

 

Event 2. Modified Ribbon Roping/Goat Tie

Contestants Require: A Horse, Breakaway Rope with Breakaway Hondu (or will be provided one)

Team Member #1 on Horse Back will be required to start behind the white line at the north end of the arena.   They will ride over to the stationary Roping Dummy, upon successful head catch the rider must drop the rope and pick up the ribbon from the judge.  Any full head catch qualifies, including placing the loop and riding off. 

Team Member #2 will be waiting behind the white line on the north end of arena to receive the Ribbon from Team Member #1.  They will then run on foot the ribbon to Team Member # 3 at the other end of arena who will be inside a designated circle

Team Member #3 will wait inside the designated circle until the handoff is complete and then will gather the tethered goat and tie the ribbon on one of the goats feet – when they throw their hands in the air the timer will stop

 

Event 3.  Archery

Contestants Require a Bow (or will be provided one)

Each Team Member will be required to shoot a bow and arrow at each target, points will be awarded for accuracy

Wild Pony

Teams of 3 Members Contestants are required to have a Helmet & Gloves, Flack Jacket (provided)

Each Team needs a Mugger, Anchor & Rider

Upon opening the chute the pony must cross the white line to start the timer

One team member must ride the pony for 3 successful jumps to make a qualified ride. 

Each team will be given a maximum of 30seconds to complete the ride. 


In the event that there is no qualified rides, the team who remains in control of their pony the longest will be the default winner.  In the event that 2 or more teams remain in control for the full 30 seconds the judge will award a total overall points for each attempt during the event and the highest ranked team will be awarded as the winner. 

Monkey on a Rope

Teams consist of 2 members and 1 horse is required – the same horse can be used multiple times but contestants can only be entered as the monkey once and rider once

The Team will enter the Arena and Cross the Timer eye to start their run

The Monkey will be dropped off at the Rope

The rider will ride around barrel 1 and pick their monkey back up

The Rider & Monkey will then ride around barrel 2 and ride back to cross the timer to end the run. 

If the monkey touches the ground at any point the team is disqualified

Man Vs Beast Tournament

Participants will Enter Individually with either a Motorbike Entry or Horse Entry

All horse Entry’s will run off first, followed by all Motorbike Entries

The pattern is a complete figure 8 straight to home finish.  The Top 2 Horse Times and the Top 2 Bike times will showdown against one another to crown the fastest on 2 wheels and fasted on 4 Feet. 

 

Steer Riding

Juniors 11-13 – Qualified ride is 6 seconds and judged

Seniors 14-17 – Qualified ride is 8 seconds and judged

Contestants must have a Helmet, Gloves & Proper Boots, Flack Jacket (can be provided), Steer Rope (can be provided)
